In this Introduction to Materials course we’ll learn all the things you need to know to get you up and running with the basics of material creation inside of Blender. We’ll start out by first looking and Blender’s Cycles rendering engine, and learn about the importance of a good light setup when building materials. We’ll then move on to the basics of creating and applying materials, and learn about the Diffuse and Glossy shaders and the basic properties of each one Throughout this course we will be tackling various types of materials, from plastics, to wood and marble, all while learning the ins and outs of Blender’s extremely powerful and vital shader Node Editor. We’ll learn about the importance of the Fresnel node and the Index of Refraction value to determine whether a material appears more plastic or more metal. As well as how to create bump maps through a procedural texture and how we can copy and reuse existing materials. By the end of this course you will have a strong understanding of how to work with materials in Blender, so you can begin creating realistic materials for your own projects with confidence.
