Elvis Presley - Elvis: Behind The Image, Vol. 2

"Bud Glass Productions have produced an excellent follow up to their first DVD, Elvis: Behind The Image Vol. 1 that came out in August 2002.

Elvis: Behind The Image Vol. 2 - Welcome To His World starts with an animated Elvis, dancing and doing some karate moves to a digderidoo (one of the oldest instruments on earth), it then changes to different footage from around the world before switching to people who had a big impact on world history (both good and bad). Some of the people featured are Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, FDR, Adolf Hitler, Desmont Tutu, Ali and our man Elvis. I found it a bit over the top, but the point being made was that no matter where you go in theworld, the name Elvis has the same remarkable meaning.

Next up are 3 interviews lasting 90 minutes in total, the first being with Cynthia Pepper who starred with Elvis in Kissin' Cousin in 1964, then Ed Hill and finally Ed Enoch, both members of J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet who performed with Elvis from 1971 (Ed Enoch says 1970, but he's a year early) until 1977.

Of the three interviews I enjoyed the one with Ed Hill the most, followed by the Ed Enoch interview, and then the one with Cynthia Pepper. Ed Hill is very sincere in his stories of performing with Elvis from 1974 to 1977 (he joined the Stamps in 1974) and they are a treat to listen to. Suffice to say, you will enjoy all three interviews leading up to the great 8mm footage of Elvis. By the way, the interviews have several pictures and 8 mm footage of Elvis as each person gives their thoughts on their relationshipwith Elvis.

Up next is the rare unseen footage of Elvis on stage from from Houston, TX (November 12th 1971), Dallas, TX (November 13th 1971), San Bernadino, CA (May 10th 1974), Los Angeles, CA (May 11th 1974) and Las Vegas, NV (September 1st 1974).

The Houston footage is about 20 minutes and is superb, top notch quality that you will drool over...The Dallas footage is 15 minutes long, and is great quality footage, though not as good as the Houston footage. After Dallas there is about 5 minutes of Elvis from San Bernadino and Los Angeles that is also excellent footage. The last piece of footage is 2 minutes from Las Vegas on September 1, 1974. Though short, and in lesser quality than the above mention 8 mm footage, it is rare and cool to see.

Before each piece of 8mm footage there is a short narration providing excellent background information on Elvis' performances in Houston, TX (November 12th 1971), Dallas, TX (November 13th 1971), San Bernadino, CA (May 10th 1974), Los Angeles, CA (May 11th 1974) and Las Vegas, NV (September 1st 1974).

The DVD also has some trailers for the first volume of the DVD, the Behind the Image book, the current volume of the DVD, the upcoming Born To Rock book (this book looks like a sure winner) and the upcoming Vol. 3 of the Behind The Image DVD series. I must say, the footage in the Vol. 3 trailer of Elvis walking out of a building in one of his Super Fly outfits makes me want to see that DVD come out real soon!

Bud Glass and the gang at Praytome Publishing have done an excellent job on this DVD, providing the fans with unseen footage and photos of Elvis (thanks to Russ Howe and Sandi Miller among others for the photos). I recommend you buy a copy of this DVD, you will not be disappointed !" (Source: Elvicities.com)
