Elvis Presley - Elvis-An Alternate 68
When BMG released the "Elvis: '68 Comeback Special Deluxe Edition" DVD box set in 2004, fans were treated to practically everything filmed for Elvis's 1968 NBC-TV special. In fact, so much so, the majority of the set featured the individual segments in their raw, unedited forms. It was wonderful to see and hear, but in this world of remixes (think JXL) and mash-ups (think Viva Elvis) why not re-imagine the 68 Comeback using these raw elements? If we don't, you know somebody will... and since Pseudopod has already righted a wrong (the poorly compiled and edited "Elvis: '68 Comeback Special Edition" DVD) with "Elvis - The Definitive NBC-TV Special" DVD, it'stime for some fun!
This DVD features almost completely alternate takes or alternate audio compared to "The Definitive NBC-TV Special". In fact, thanks to relaying remastered cd versions on top of the video portions, some appear in stereo for the first time on video. It should be mentioned that some of the segments on this disc are lifted directly from STAR dvd's excellent Elvis compilation sets (specifically the Gospel Medley and a portion of the Road Medley). This version of the DVD, the Standard Edition, omits the bordello scene from the Uncut Version but adds an extra song, "Love Me" never seen in this setting before! Fans of the special will no doubt enjoy seeing it in yet another light as an alternate (but not replacement) to Pseudopod's "Definitive NBC-TV Special" DVD. We hope you like it!
